Question:
HELLO I HAVE A 2007 CHEVY MALIBU. HAVING PROBLEMS ELECTRIC STEERING PLEASE HELP.
Mechanic: What exactly is the problem with the steering?
IS NOT WORKING .I HAVE NO POWER STEERING. IT FEELS LIE A MANUAL. DOES IT HAVE A RELAY OR A FUSE.
Any other problems with the car? Any warning lights on the dash?
POWER STEERING LIGHT CO.ES ON.
Yes, there should be at least 1 fuse in the underhood fuse box. I would check that first.
WE PUT PLUGS AND WIRES ON THE CAR AND THAT STARTED
That should not have have caused any problems unless you accidentally knocked off a wiring connector to a sensor.
WE ALREADY LOOKED WHAT WOULD THEY CALL THE AREA WHERE THE FUSE IS I SAW NOTHING ABOUT ELECTRIC STEERING
If the V6 engine, check for any loose connectors around the rear spark plugs. In the fuse panel it could be called STRG, STEER or something similar. They change the name all the time. Also P/S, PWR STR, etc…
OK I WILL LOOK AGAIN.
Check out the picture on this page… http://www.justautorepair.com/chevrolet/equinox/steering-stability-warning Also look for a fuse called EPS.
YEAH I FOUND EPS 80 AMP
OK. If you have a test light, with the key on, you should have power on both sides. Or use an ohm meter to check continutity.
Question:
Chevy equinox has grinding noise when brakes are applied.
Mechanic: Can you tell if this is from the front or rear?
Front.
OK. Then it sounds like either the pads are worn down to nothing or the front rotors are rusted.
Thank you.
Question:
I have a 2006 Saturn ion 3 2.4. I have this strange clunking sound coming from driver side whenever i go over bumps and potholes. So far all the mechanics I have been too, can’t find the problem. I have changed sway bar link kit. tie rods and recently the shocks and upper mount plate still same problem. looking at Lower control arm or upper? I’m tired of giving my hard earned money to these so called mechanics.
Mechanic: yes, this sounds like a common problem of lower control arm bushing. Give me a moment, i think i have a link to a great article about this…
Yes, here is a link to a very descriptive article with a couple of pictures as well and comment at the bottom of the page… http://www.greatautohelp.com/questions/front-end-clunking.html
Question:
Hi there I was wondering if its normal for an aftermarket turbo back exhaust to only use 2 flat gaskets and bolts to join the three main parts together? (not including turbo joint) I’m used to seeing a doughnut/cone seal and spring bolt type setup for at least the downpipe and cat to center pipe connection.
Mechanic: Yes, they can be different. It all depends on the design of the flange. If the mating surfaces are flat then there would just be a regular gasket style seal.
Question:
1993 geo metro, replaced water pump, belt, and battery. now will not start. engine turns over strong but will not start. also, i can slightly smell fuel when attempting start. suggestions? thanks in advance.
Mechanic: Are you sure you did not forget to connect a wiring connector, are even possibly knocked one off?
The only one that i had to remove and put back on was the wire that attaches to the timing belt cover. I believe there is a sensor on there as well?
Yes. what you are talking about sounds like the crank position sensor. It is possible that coolant got into the sensor and now it is not working properly. I woud suggest rinsing the front of the engine off with water, and blow it out with compressed air. If you do not have a compressor, you can just wait a few hours for it the all evaporate.
Will do, thanks. also, i was considering getting some starting fluid to see if that would work. is it worth it?
Well, if you are smelling gas, i would not ass any sort of fuel to it. The reason you get that smell is because the engine is not getting spark to burn the gas.
Question:
I change my throttle body sensor and map sensor on a 2003 Chevy trailblazer and engine reduced power still pop-up.
Mechanic: Did you scan the trouble codes? If so, what are they.
No
OK. You really need to scan the codes. We have had problems with the throttle body and the accel. pedal sensor to cause this problem.
Ok thank you.
